1. Information we collect

We collect information provided directly by you (account details, event settings, and guest submissions including text, images, and audio). For our Partners, we also collect bank account details to facilitate commission payments.

In addition, we collect information automatically (e.g., device/browser type, IP address, usage analytics, cookies—see our Cookie Policy).

2. How we use your information

We use your data to maintain the service, process payments, and display guest content at your event. For Partners, we use your data to track successful referrals and process commissions.

Additionally, we may use your information to:

  • Export content you request.
  • Improve reliability, security, and performance.
  • Send service-related emails (e.g., confirmations, critical notices).
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce terms.

4. Data retention

Event content is hosted for the period included with the event's plan — 14 days on Free and 12 months on Keepsake and Heirloom. Free hosting is counted from the date the event is created. Buying a paid plan starts that plan's period from the purchase date, unless the event already has a later end date.

Paid-plan hosts are emailed 30 days before hosting ends, and every host is emailed again 4 days before it ends. If you do not continue, the guestbook closes on the end date. You and your guests can no longer open it, view the wall or download from it. Closure is not immediate deletion: during the retention period below, renewing a paid event or upgrading a free event restores access.

Closed events are retained for 90 days. We email the host when the guestbook closes and state the deletion date. After that retention period, the event and its content, including messages, photos and voice notes, will be permanently deleted. This cannot be reversed, so please export before hosting ends, or renew or upgrade within the retention period. A watermarked PDF is available on every plan while the event is online; photo, voice-note and other full downloads require a paid plan.

If you delete an event from the dashboard, it is hidden immediately and we email you a restoration link that works for 30 days. After that recovery period, the event and its content will be permanently deleted.

5. Your rights

You may export an online event subject to its plan, or delete an event from your dashboard. You can delete your account from your Account page: everything is taken offline straight away, you can restore it for 30 days, and after that it is permanently deleted. To exercise rights to access, correct or port your data, or to have your account removed sooner, contact info@digiguestbook.com. Depending on your region, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Sharing & disclosures

We don’t sell your personal data. We share limited data with service providers who help us operate our product (hosting, storage, analytics, email). We may share data if required by law, to protect rights/safety, or with your consent.

8. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to continuously improve our safeguards.

9. Children’s privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). If you learn a child has provided us data, contact us and we’ll take appropriate steps.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll post the new version here and update the “Last updated” date.
